Well-known Venezuelan artist, has obtained a Bachelor degree in Fine Arts and Master degree in How to teach Art from the Cecilio Acosta Catholic University (U.N.I.C.A).
Graduated with the second highest score, Mariela wrote a thesis in Museology and Museography for Contemporary Art Museums which was published by the University.
Has studied Porcelain Painting at the Rome Fine Art University, Artistic Anatomy at the Brera Art Academy in Milan and Chemistry, History and Technique of 17th Century Stained Glass at the Ferrara Art School, Bologna, Italy.
Since 1996 Mariela has dedicated herself to teach Portrait Workshops in many countries.
In 1998-1999 she worked for a Vatican Congregation as oil as well as a Porcelain painter.
She was honored to paint the Portrait of his Holiness Pope John Paul II on a Porcelain piece as a special Jubilee commission and got the amazing opportunity to meet him two times.
In 2000-2001 taught at The International School of Decorative Arts in Milan, Italy; teaching her technique to paint realistic Portraits on Porcelain.
In 2002 she moved to United States and started to teach (Beginners and Advanced) Portrait Porcelain Painting workshops around the country.
In 2004 she won the Colorado State Fair, taking First in Portraits, Best of the Show and peoples choice with an original Portrait on a Porcelain tile. Same year she was commissioned to portraiture the Colorado Miss USA and Miss Teen USA.
In January 2006 and January 2008, Mariela won First in Portrait in the International Art Miniature Competition granted by the Miniature Art Society of Florida. A great honor since the Miniature Art Society of Florida is recognized as the second most prestigious Miniature Art Organization in the world, after the Royal Miniature Art Society in London.
She teaches at many Porcelain Art School every summer, this year she has been honored to teach at the Académie Internationale de Peinture de Nice. P.A.G.N School at the Seattle Pacific University, P.A.S-S Art School at the College of Charleston, S.C., are among others her favorites places where to teach every year.
Active member of the World Organization of China Painters and the International Porcelain Artist and Teachers. She is also member of the Assosiation of Women Portrait Artist, Miniature Art Society of Florida and member of the Portrait Society of America, what allowed her to study with very renowned today American Portrait Masters like, Robert Liberacce and Margaret Carter Baumgaertner.
Having an academic formation, she is an oil painter in heart and a porcelain painter by passion. She also loves charcoal drawing, pastels, color pencils on wood and photography.
Marielas works are currently exposed in Oklahoma Porcelain Art Museum, USA; Limoges Museum, France; The Fire Arts Museum, Nova Milanese, Italy; Santa Maria Goretti Chapel, Cosenza, Italy; House of St. Vincent Pallotti, Rome, Italy and many private galleries in Italy, Germany, France, Poland and Venezuela.
She lives in Dallas, TX. with her husband Marcin, her son Nicolas and their Westie 'Neo", who she always refers as her boys!!!
Her Studio is located in Dallas where she teaches Portrait classes in many painting mediums.
